Mastering the fundamentals of surgery
Welcome
Chase Surgical Ltd was established by myself, David Luke. I am a Consultant General Surgeon in the NHS with a subspecialist interest in Colorectal Surgery, and my main elective scope of practice is inflammatory bowel disease surgery. I spent 20 years in the British Army, first as a surgical trainee and then a military Consultant surgeon and during this time had significant exposure to, and developed a professional interest in the surgical management of trauma and emergency surgery. My main educational interest is dedicated to training and education in early years Surgical Residents.

About us
Chase surgical focusses on offering training in the fundamentals of General Surgery using low cost, highly effective simulation training. We develop and build our own low cost models, designed to facilitate training in specific skills. We run some face to face courses in Staffordshire, but in addition run virtual courses with the same kit which is sent to you at home. Our training is confined to UK Residents at present, although this will hopefully expand over time. Our YouTube channel (link below) contains instructional videos to use with the models, and we augment these with live interactive tutorials on MS Teams at specific times.
Our surgery at home training courses each cost less than £100. They are low cost, highly effective and allow you to continue practicing and refreshing as you progress through training.
Training design
Although we do offer face to face training, our main effort is in virtual training to facilitate accessibility and keep costs low. We are currently rolling out training courses in basic surgical skills, GI anastomosis training, inguinal hernia training, and laparotomy and closure of perforated Duodenal Ulcer. Our home laparoscopic trainer is not far behind.
Once signed up you will be sent the training kit to your home using Evri couriers. The kit includes the anatomical model, instruments, suture material and equipment to record your progress. You will also be sent a QR code which links you to the appropriate training video package, along with a separate link which enables you to upload your own video for assessment.

How it works
Once you have received your simulation kit training can be done in your own time, at your own pace. Our videos take you through the procedures step by step. You are then able to perform the procedure yourself using the simulation kit, which also allows you to record your efforts.
Once completed you can then upload your video to our assessment portal, and a Consultant Surgeon will review your technique, provide feedback and complete a WBA on ISCP for your portfolio.
